Cataract Surgery 101 - What is Biometry? A Scan vs Laser?

Patients are often confused about the importance of biometry (eye measurement) before their cataract surgery. Accurate biometry is essential for your ophthalmologist to help you pick the best intraocular lens implant that is suitable to be placed inside your eye. In this video we will describe two common methods of biometry 1) ultrasound known as A Scan versus 2) Laser optical biometry.

Dr. Lee graduated from McMaster Michael G. DeGroote School of Medicine in 2018. She continued her postgraduate ophthalmology residency training at McMaster University. She has since been working in Brantford, Ontario as a comprehensive ophthalmologist. 

 

Dr. Lee is currently accepting referrals to her Hamilton practice. Her focus will be on medical glaucoma.  She will be performing adult cataract surgeries out of St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton. She will also be performing YAG laser procedures including SLT, LPI, and Capsulotomy. She looks forward to working in Hamilton and serving the community where she was trained.
